Dr. Harry Bohnsack started optometric practice in 1987 in the Ottawa area and in Mississauga in 1988. He started his own practice in 1989 in nearby Oakville at Oakville Town Centre and quickly established a successful and growing practice. The office was relocated and expanded in 1992 to a professional building at Dorval Drive and North Service Rd. Dr. Bohnsack became involved with the Oakville community, submitting articles on eye care to the local newspaper and becoming a Charter Member of the Oakville North Rotary Club.
In 1995, Drs. Bohnsack and Steffler relocated to New Brunswick, starting their practice in the Executive Edge Building on Smythe Street.
In 2003, the office was relocated and expanded in a renovated building next door to the previous location. The new location allowed the addition of state of the art instruments including Digital Retinal Photography, Optomap Widefield Retinal Imaging, Automated Tonometry and Automated Visual Field Evaluation. The Eyewear Gallery was also expanded and a Lens Edging Lab was added along with a large inventory of high quality ophthalmic lenses for enhanced eyewear service.
Dr. Bohnsack has been very active in the New Brunswick Association of Optometrists, serving as Media and Public Relations Chair for many years, as NBAO President from 2003 – 2005, and continues to serve on Council as the New Brunswick delegate to the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Dr. Bohnsack has volunteered with the Fredericton Sunrise Rotary Club since 1995 in various capacities including President in 2008-2009.
